Longevity is a Byproduct

EAT < MOVE + PURPOSE + EDUCATION (growth mindset) x COMMUNITY = LONGEVITY

On Aging

For those who seek a long Life directly I’d like you to consider my longevity Equation (above). The longer I live the more convinced I become that Longevity is a byproduct and not something that can be consumed, and it will follow after you wherever you go–when you are on purpose.

Here are some thoughts on the components of the Longevity Equation (LE):

1. Eat: The only way you get that fat off is to eat less and exercise more.  -Jack LaLanne

2. Move: “I thought, you know the food and the diet thing is one way to start yourself onto a healthy lifestyle, but if you don’t move, if you don’t start exercising you’re gonna deteriorate.” -Warren Cuccurullo

3. Purpose: “The purpose of life is to contribute in some way to making things better.” – Robert F. Kennedy

4. Education: “When studying human physiology generally and the brain in particular, it is essential to keep in mind that development and aging are a continuum. From the moment you are born, you begin to age. So, too, your brain does not simply “develop” in the first part of your life and “age” in the last part of your life.” -Marian Diamond  (Novelty & Complexity are keys to the successfully aging brain)

 5. Community: Diets, supplements, and exercise programs aren’t what is achieving longevity. Having a faith-based community can add four to 14 years according to Dan Buettner.

6. Longevity: If you ask what is the single most important key to longevity, I would have to say it is avoiding worry, stress and tension. And if you didn`t ask me, I`d still have to say it. – George Burns
